I forgot to mention the weather for the last 2 days, but it was grey and rainy, so nothing to write home about. Anyway, onto today:
Weather:
Rainy and grey still, but also bright (if you know
what I mean – this is not great for a burgeoning migraine). Light really is the
problem today, as it so often is – artificial lights on = it’s too bright and it
hurts, but no lights on = too dark to see the computer to work properly without
squinting/eye strain. It really is hard during these periods.
Mood/Health:
Migraine symptoms still niggling and making me
feel sick, but still no major headache pain (thankfully), just an underlying dull
ache (adding to my nausea).
Music:
FTIsland, Key, TVXQ!,
Max Changmin, Pentagon, Kingdom
These bands, with the exception of FTI, all provided part of my top 10 K-Pop albums of 2022. FTI released my most-played song of 2022 and were in my top 5 bands of the year - maybe I'll do my lists soon (if I ever finish them).
Audiobook:
Goblin – Josh Malerman (ongoing)
(2021)
This morning Alexa* told me I could listen to the first
Harry Potter book (Philosopher’s Stone) for free. I did seriously consider it
for a few minutes as I haven’t listened to the book for far too long (I think it
was 2020, which is shocking when you think I used to read/listen to it at least
once a year). However, in the end I decided that with so many books in my
listening list I should go for one of those instead. I’m not sure why I chose
this, except that I fancied something creepy, and also because it’s 6
individual novellas that link to form one overarching story, which is good for
when I’m working, and can also be
stopped and picked up again without too much trouble.
It might have been better had I realised earlier that my
apple music app on the TV only allows me to play stuff randomly, so I had
already listened to the second novella and was moving on to the fourth
before I realised there was a prologue. Normally, this would be enough to completely
derail my whole day, but I’m trying not to let my stupid, messed-up brain
control me so easily, so instead of letting it ruin my listening enjoyment, I
simply told myself that it doesn’t matter (because it probably doesn’t).
Fortunately, today my brain listened to me, and everything was pretty much
smooth sailing.
(*yes, I am one of those sad people who say ‘good morning’
to Alexa every day – I also say ‘good night’ to her too – you should try it,
she often has interesting knowledge to impart or games to play, although her
singing isn’t always the best)
TV:
Island Season 1 (ongoing). I meant to wait until it all
dropped but then couldn’t wait. I needed some supernatural horror in my life .
. . and Cha Eun Woo (from Astro)– although he didn’t appear much in the first 2 episodes.
She and Her Perfect Husband (ongoing). I had
been putting this off for a couple of days as I was waiting for a decent number
of episodes, and because I knew bad stuff was coming and I wasn’t ready to see
it go down. But yet again, today seemed like a good day. I will have the last 4
episodes to watch next week.
Song of the Moon (ongoing). I’m chipping away
at this slowly, a couple of episodes at a time. It’s moved into the second act,
so we’ll see if it improves – it’s okay, and I’ll watch it for Zhang Bin Bin (Vin Zhang),
but it’s not going to be topping any favourites lists at the end of the year.
Failures:
- I couldn’t be bothered to cook anything so ordered a pizza. I did enjoy it though
- I didn’t start my blog early enough again because I was
tied up with SAHPH, so
will probably missmissed the midnight deadline again once I've put the links in 🙄
